NEW DELHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a 20-minute one-on-one debate on Rafale aircraft or any other strategic issue.
Launching a fresh attack at the BJP over the Rafale deal, the Congress chief said that PM Modi does not have guts to face him.
Rahul Gandhi threw the challenge at PM Modi during a press conference when he was asked about the remarks made by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley during the debate in Lok Sabha.
Jaitley had said, “It is a tragedy that the grand old party which was headed by the legends in the past is now headed by a gentleman who doesn’t have basic understanding of combat aircraft.”
Attacking the BJP, Congress president Rahul Gandhi alleged that Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar is “blackmailing” Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the former Union defence minister claims that he has the entire Rafale deal file “in his bedroom.”
Rahul claimed the purported Parrikar tape on Rafale was authentic and warned there could be other tapes also.
The Congress along with other opposition parties in Lok Sabha demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the Rs 58,000 crore deal.
