NEW DELHI: Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday refuted the audio tapes produced by the Congress as an attempt to ‘fabricate facts’, reported news agency ANI.
Shortly after Congress spokesperson, in a press conference, produced an audio tape in which Goa minister Vishwajit Rane is purportedly seen claiming that the Goa CM has Rafale defence deal file “lying in his bedroom”, Parrikar said that “no such discussion ever came up during Cabinet or any other meeting.”
Congress questions Manohar Parrikar’s purported claim on Rafale deal’s file
The Congress demanded answers from PM Modi on Goa CM Manohar Parrikar’s purported claim that he had a file on Rafale “lying in his bedroom” and asked if this was the reason why a joint parliamentary committee probe was not being ordered. The BJP has alleged that the Congress is only “peddling lies” on the Rafale issue.
“The audio clip released by the Congress party is a desperate attempt to fabricate facts after their lies were exposed by the recent Supreme Court verdict on Rafale. No such discussion ever came up during Cabinet or any other meeting,” Parrikar said.
Rane has claimed that the audio was doctored and has sought a probe by the police and central government agencies into the matter.
